When the vertical tube of a manometer is laid down into an inclined position and if there is a slight change in process pressure it will cause a large movement in the liquid column as the liquid travel a farther distance along the tube length to achieve the same vertical shift.
Advantage includes high sensitivity even if for low pressures because of amplification in liquid motion for a given amount of pressure change, allowing measurements of greater resolution due to an inclined position.
